Laguna iPhone Repair: Golf-Bag Cracks, Water-Hazard Rescues, One Booked Slot

Phones don't break at Laguna the way they break on Bangla Road. They get crushed in a golf bag, slide off a cart seat onto the path, stop charging after five humid hours in a trouser pocket, or go into the water and get fished out. Book a bench slot around your round — we set the part aside, no deposit — and it's fixed in one visit.

The Laguna repair list

Laguna is a resort complex with a golf course threaded through it and waterways running between the properties, and that produces a very specific set of broken iPhones. Four faults account for most of what arrives at our bench from up there.

The golf-bag crush

A phone goes in the side pocket of the bag, the bag goes in the cart, the irons rattle for four hours. The glass loses. This is nearly always repairable — the load is spread rather than concentrated, so the display cracks but the internals often come through intact. The one thing we check before quoting is the frame: if the aluminium chassis has taken a bend, a new display won't seat flat against it, and fitting one anyway is how you end up with a screen that lifts at the corner a week later. If we see that, we'll tell you at the quote, not after you've paid.

The cart-path drop

Off a cart seat, onto concrete, corner first. Corner impacts are the worst kind of drop — they concentrate the entire force into one point of the frame, shatter the digitiser, and can jolt the display connector loose underneath. That's why a phone can look merely cracked in the morning and be showing vertical lines or a dead touch strip by the evening. If yours is doing that, it isn't getting better on its own; see the screen repair page.

Sweat, humidity and a port that won't charge

The quiet one. Five hours in a trouser pocket in Phuket heat puts more moisture into a phone than most people credit, and it shows up as a charging port that no longer grips the cable, dead patches on the touch screen, or a muffled speaker. People conclude the phone is dying and start pricing a new one. Very often it is a corroded or packed port and nothing more — see why a port stops charginga clean, or at worst a new port, which is an entirely different afternoon to buying a new iPhone.

The water-hazard rescue

It happens, it gets fished out, and then it gets treated wrongly. Do not assume the water was clean. Treat any lagoon or waterway water as brackish rather than fresh — the safe assumption is that there's salt in it, and salt is what actually destroys a logic board. Handle it as a saltwater incident and you lose nothing; handle a saltwater incident as if it were pool water and you may lose the phone.

If it came out of the water on the course

1. Power it off immediately — don't test whether it still works. 2. Rinse the outside gently with fresh bottled water. Counter-intuitive, correct: it washes the salt off before it crystallises. 3. Dry the exterior. No hairdryer, no rice, no sun-baking on the cart dash. 4. Do not plug it in. Charging a wet phone is what kills most of them. 5. Get it to Patong the same day. Liquid repair needs an ultrasonic clean and a controlled dry, and the device normally stays overnight — so plan to drop it off. Full sequence on the water damage page.

Fit the repair around your day, not the other way round

Laguna to our Patong workshop is 25–35 minutes by car in normal conditions — longer in rain. That's real time out of a holiday, so the trick is to slot it into a gap you already have rather than carving out a new one. Three patterns that work:

Playing in the morning

Message us the night before. The part is out on the bench when you arrive, you ride over after the round, and the phone is fixed while you'd otherwise be showering and changing for dinner.

Playing in the afternoon

Hand the phone over in the morning on your way past, we work while you play, and you collect on the way back. The bench time happens inside a window you weren't using the phone anyway.

A day off the course

Book a slot, come once, wait it out. Screens 30–60 minutes, batteries 20–40. Patong is the closest place to Laguna with real shops and a proper lunch if you'd rather not sit in a workshop.

What "booking a slot" actually means here

No app, no calendar link, no theatre. It's a message on the contact page and it buys you three concrete things:

Your model's part pulled from stock and set aside A named time on the bench, not a queue A fixed price agreed before you travel

And three things it explicitly does not mean: no deposit, no booking fee, no obligation to go ahead. If we don't have the part for your model, you'll hear that before you spend half an hour in a car, not after. That's the entire point of the exercise.

What to book ahead, and what to just bring

Repair Typical bench time Book ahead?
Screen replacement 30–60 min Yes — the part is model-specific
Charging port (sweat / grit) 30–60 min Worth a message first
Battery replacement 20–40 min Usually in stock
Water / hazard damage Overnight Come immediately — don't wait
Data recovery Case by case Diagnosed first

Every repair carries a 90-day warranty on parts and workmanship. We inspect the phone, write down one fixed price, and you decide: turn it down and you pay nothing and take the phone with you. There is no distance charge and no resort surcharge either. To get the conversation going before you travel, use the repair estimator. If the fault is a fading battery rather than a break, the battery page explains what's worth doing and what isn't.

Golf, resort & booking questions

Almost always a screen job — sometimes a screen and back glass together. A phone in a bag pocket gets compressed between iron heads, so the glass goes, but the internals often survive because the load is spread rather than concentrated. The one thing we check first is the frame: if the chassis has taken a bend, a new display won't seat flat against it, and we'll tell you that at the quote rather than fitting a screen that fails in a week. The screen is priced for your exact model, and you see that number in writing before the phone is opened.
Often, if it reaches a bench quickly and nobody charges it. Treat lagoon and course water as brackish rather than clean — assume there's salt in it, because salt is what destroys a board. Power it off, rinse the outside gently with fresh bottled water to wash the salt off, dry it, and don't plug it in. Then get it to Patong the same day. Liquid repair needs an ultrasonic clean and a controlled dry, the phone normally stays overnight, and the price is agreed once we have opened it and seen the board.
It can be. Sweat and tropical humidity are the quiet killers on a golf course — a phone that spends five hours in a trouser pocket in Phuket heat takes on more moisture than people realise, and it surfaces as a charging port that no longer holds a cable, dead patches on the touch screen, or a muffled speaker. A corroded or packed port is often the whole problem — considerably cheaper than the new phone you were about to buy. Get it diagnosed before you assume the worst.
Yes, and no. Tell us the model and the day and time you plan to come, and we'll pull the part from stock and set it aside. No deposit, no booking fee, no obligation. If your model's part isn't in stock, you'll hear that before you travel rather than after — which, from Laguna, saves you an hour on the road.
25–35 minutes by Grab or taxi in normal conditions, and realistically longer in heavy rain or at peak times. It isn't a quick errand — which is exactly why we'd rather you booked a slot and made the trip once. Screens take 30–60 minutes on the bench and batteries 20–40, so a booked post-round slot has you back at the resort the same day.
Depends on the fault, and we'll give you a straight answer. If the battery is simply tired and the phone is otherwise sealed and working, waiting until you're home is perfectly reasonable. If the glass is cracked, waiting is a bad idea in Phuket specifically: a cracked screen is no longer a sealed screen, and humidity, pool water and sweat get in through the crack and reach the board. What starts as a screen job turns into a liquid job, which costs more, takes longer and carries worse odds.

Book the slot. Keep the tee time.

Send us the model and what happened. We'll set the part aside, agree the price before you travel, and have the bench free when you arrive.
